What is a Feed?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) Feeds are feeds that contain basic, regularly updated content on a particular topic. RSS Feeds can be added to any Landing Page.

Feeds

Create a Feed
  1. Navigate to the Manage Feeds Tile (Dashboard > Feeds > Manage Feeds).
  2. Click on the ADD RSS FEED button.
  3. Provide a name for the RSS Feed
  4. Provide the RSS Feed URL

  5. Click the ADD RSS FEED button.
Edit a Feed
  1. Navigate to the Manage Feeds Tile (Dashboard > Feeds > Manage Feeds).
  2. Click on the Edit link in the Operations column of the corresponding Feed


     
  3. Make any necessary Edits to the Feed Name or Feed Config fields
  4. Click the UPDATE RSS FEED button.
Delete an Entire Feed
  1. Navigate to the Manage Feeds Tile (Dashboard > Feeds > Manage Feeds).
  2. Click on the Delete link in the Operations column of the corresponding Feed.


     
  3. You’ll be asked to confirm if you want to Delete the RSS Feed
  4. Click the DELETE FEED button to delete the RSS Feed; or
  5. Click the CANCEL button to keep the RSS Feed.
Add an Item to a Feed

You might choose to add additional items to an existing Feed. Items can be added to a Feed using the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the Feeds tile on your dashboard
  2. Open the Items tile
  3. Click ADD NEW
  4. Enter the title of the feed
    • This will appear in the Feed block once it's been added to a Landing Page

  1. Provide the URL for the item
    • This is the link to the original article, web page, blog post, etc.

  1. Provide the name of the Feed to which this item should belong in the 'Source' field
    • It's important that this is exactly the same as the title of the Feed in order for them to be linked appropriately

  1. Add the timestamp for the item
    • Typically this should be the date/time on which the original post was published

  1. Optional Provide a description of the item
    • This is for internal purposes only; it will not be displayed on the Landing Page
  2. Click SAVE to add the item to the feed
Remove Items from a Feed

Items returned in Feeds might not always be relevant or appropriate for your organization. You can remove the feed items from your RSS block by the following methods:

DELETE ITEMS
Note: This method may result in the RSS Item with the same title re-appearing in your RSS Feed. If this is not the desired result please follow the steps to Unpublish Items.

  1. Navigate to the RSS Items tile (Dashboard > Feeds > RSS Items).
  2. Click Delete to the right of the item to be removed.
  3. Click DELETE to confirm the removal of this item.

 

UNPUBLISH ITEMS

  1. Navigate to the RSS Items tile (Dashboard > Feeds > RSS Items).
  2. Locate the Feed Item you wish to unpublish.
  3. Click the Edit link in the operations column for the corresponding feed item.
  4. Click on the Publishing Option Tab in the workflow section (at the bottom of the screen).
  5. Remove the checkmark from Published.
  6. Click the Save button to apply changes.
Create an RSS Block

To add RSS Feeds to your Landing Page(s), they must first be added to an RSS Block. You can add one or more feeds to any RSS Block and can customize its display settings.

  1. Navigate to the Feeds tile on your dashboard
  2. Open the Blocks tile
  3. Click ADD RSS BLOCK
  4. Enter the title of the block
    • This will appear above the block on your Landing Page

  1. In the 'RSS Date' drop-down menu, choose whether to display all of the RSS items or only those that are upcoming

  1. Choose whether to sort the items in ascending or descending order in the 'RSS Sort' drop-down menu

  1. Choose which RSS feeds should be displayed in the block from the 'RSS Feeds' drop-down menu

  1. Choose whether to display the date, time, feed source, for each item

  1. Choose a display limit to limit the number of items that can show in this block at one time

10. Choose a display limit to limit the number of items that can show in this block at one time

11. Click SAVE to create the RSS Block
